There It Is By Jayne Cortez

Probably the most inspiring poem ive read so far and im glad I did. this poem can motivate many people in doing whatever they want to do in their life, to reach goals and finish work. It all says it there "if we dont resist, if we dont unify, if we dont take control," these are all lines thrown in poem and these are all lines that tell you that we should do all these things to be more "organized" in our routines. Then it continues saying that if you dont do any of these, then oyu in fact will be "Then we will wear
the exaggerated look of captivity
the stylized look of submission
the bizarre look of suicide
the dehumanized look of fear
and the decomposed look of repression
In other words you might fail in waht you are chasing, you might fail on what you think your doing right, but instead you have to folow those steps and just get the job done correctly rather then doing it fast and sloppy

The Mother by Brooks

The poem is particularly of how a mother in general would feel about abortion, and how hard it looks to accept it later on in life. The mother in the poem says i loved you all (to the babies) which basically represents how much she did in fact care about them in general.

"you will never wind up the sucking thumb or scuttle off ghosts that come"

that line makes me think that the mother will always have a what if. what if this baby was destined to do something in life that was to impact others in their world. i see it like that because she says you will never be able to suck your thumb or scuttle off ghosts, which means he or she will never be able to do anything because they were taken care of. the poem shows tremdous amount of saddness as well.
